Greg Winters- Dog Behavior Expert
Greg Winters is the owner and operator of Personal Dog Training, Inc. He is a dog behavior expert who has been coaching people and rehabilitating dogs for over a decade. He has done so exclusively in client homes, neighborhoods and in real life environments (No Facilities/Home Training Only). This has directly informed his development of the Communication Commands System he uses to raise dogs and address all behavior problems. Greg had helped thousands of dogs and dog parents over the years and is dedicated to being a resource to dog owners and the general public. He is committed to a mission of education, outreach and service through his work. Greg and Personal Dog Training have provided staff training and dog retention support to numerous rescue groups including The Greater Birmingham Humane Society, The Shelby Humane Society, Buddy’s Buddies Rescue, Two by Two Rescue, Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) and Luv of Dogz Fund and Forever Lover Pet Sanctuary. These donated services and support underline Greg’s commitment to keeping dogs in good homes. He is an educator and coach who considers himself to be in the dog retention business. Greg is also a recommended resource for numerous Veterinary practices including Saguaro Veterinary Hospital, Horizon Animal Hospital and Dynamite Animal Clinic all located in Scottsdale AZ. Greg has appeared regularly on local Fox and CBS TV channels as a guest to promote responsible dog ownership and highlight dogs that are in need of adoption. Greg has an extensive record of rehabilitating even the most extreme cases and he believes all dogs are capable of change if we know how to effectively communicate with them. Peanut- Dog Behavior Assistant, Spokesmodel
Peanut is one of Personal Dog Training owner Greg Winters dogs who regularly assists with socialization and aggression cases. She was rescued at only 5 weeks old after being abandoned and left in a field without her mother or litter mates. Greg committed to fostering her but fell in love and she never left. She is fully off leash trained, loves to swim, retrieve, walk on the treadmill, snuggle and spend time with people and other animals of all types. Peanut started working with Greg when she was only six months old and has assisted Personal Dog Training in rehabilitating hundreds of dogs with socialization and aggression issues. Not only is Peanut a great family member and working dog she is also an award winner. In 2012 Peanut won the Shelby Humane Society’s Ms. Congeniality award at their annual Halloween costume pageant.

Sky- Dog Behavior Assistant, Spokesmodel
Sky was only 10 months old when I first had contact with her. She had already had a litter of 3 puppies that where 2-3 months old. She was out of control escaping her yard to avoid the puppies and male dog/dad she had been forced to grow up around.
Sky was a very difficult dog. The type of dog most people consider untamable or high energy. Sky could never relax, was highly destructive and was relegated to life in the backyard- when she didn't escape. She had developed a knack for escaping and was being chased by coyotes on a regular basis and somehow surviving. Whenever I saw Sky out I would call her over, collect her up and keep her until her owners returned. I soon began to wake up every morning to find Sky had dug under my fence and she was waiting by my back door for me. Turned out she had chosen me well before she became mine! Despite offers to help Sky's owners rehabilitate her behavior and safely and humanely confine her as needed it was clear it was only a matter of time before she disappeared or died due to an unnecessary encounter with coyotes or cars. This led Greg to adopt Sky and begin her rehabilitation process. The hole Sky had dug under the fence to see Greg never needed to be filled in because Sky never wanted to leave. She now helps rehabilitate other dogs and is an example of what is possible through clear communication. Change is possible when we use Communication Commands to clear things up! |
